Airlines’ load factor – February 2010

10 March, 2010

Airlines' Load Factor for February 2010 (v1.1)

In this first post we have created a graph that is related to aviation.

The load factor (percentage of seats occupied in an aircraft) for February 2010 is presented for AirFrance/KLM, British Aiways, EasyJet, Ryanair and United Airlines.

The average load factor for the presented airlines is 78,18%. EasyJet’s load factor is by far the highest (85%) when the rest four airlines have a load factor between 74.2 to 78.7%.

Inspiration for this graph came from an article in London’s business/financial freesheet, City A.M., (05 March 2010, p.8), titled ‘EasyJet sees its passenger numbers rise’. You can have a look at a digital copy of the sheet here: http://www.cityam.com/issue/2010-03-05

Please note that after cross-referencing with primary data sources (i.e. the websites of the airlines in question) there is a sort of a typo on the 2nd paragraph of the aforementioned article: instead of ‘EasyJet carried 3.39m passengers in February 2009, compared with 3.02m passengers in February 2008…’ it should read ‘EasyJet carried 3.39m passengers in February 2010, compared with 3.02m passengers in February 2009…’
